John was born on February 4, 1927 in Abernathy, Texas, the son of Edwin Samuel Archer and Sophia Myrtle Crane. Later he married Opal Eileen Harmon on December 7, 1952, and she preceded him in death on July 12, 2005.
John was a WWII Veteran and served as a paratrooper during his time in the Army. He was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Olney for many years, and he was very active in his church. He owned his own oil business: Archer Well Service in Olney. John was a very loving, caring, and good Christian father and grandfather. He was the kind of person that honored his handshake. He will be missed greatly by all those that knew and loved him.
John is survived by his children, Loy Dale Archer and his wife, Cindy, of Quincy, IL, Susie Foerster of Olney, John W. Archer and his wife, Peggy, of Louisville, KY, and Marilyn Parish and her husband Preston, of Olney; 13 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, all of his siblings, and his son-in-law, Bob Foerster.
Interment will follow the service at Maple Dale Cemetery. Full Military Rites will be performed at the graveside.
