Mr. Benny Wallace Floyd, 79, of Columbus, GA, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Columbus Hospice House. The Homegoing Celebration will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Evangel Temple Assembly of God, located at 5350 Veterans Pkwy., Columbus, GA, 31904 according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907. Interment will immediately follow in Parkhill Cemetery. Pastor Paul Thomas, Pastor Bud Rupel, and Pastor Watson McKemie will officiate. The family will receive friends during visitation, Friday, May 13, 2016 from 5:00PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Benny was born November 12, 1936 in Cottonwood, AL, son of the late Vera May and JC Floyd. At the age of 2, his family moved to Columbus where Benny called home for 77 years. He was a member of Evangel Temple Assembly of God. Benny served in the US Navy from 1953-1957. He retired from Columbus Water Works after 37 years of dedicated service. After retirement, Benny worked at Bill Heard parts division for 13 years. Survivors include his devoted wife of 47 years, Sue Floyd; one daughter, Donna Johnson; one son Shaun Floyd; three grandchildren, Lindsey Inman, Jason Hennings, and Kristofer Floyd; five great grandchildren, Ilese and Tripp Inman, Riley and Taylor Hennings, and Hunter Floyd; niece, Cissy Mills-Wells, nephew, Stuart Mills-Wells, and a host other nieces, nephew, relatives and friends.
