After a long and happy life, Lois Ninnis Jordan passed away peacefully March 1, 2021, age 95, at her residence, Lenbrook Independent Senior Living. She was born March 24, 1925 in Corning, Ohio to Humphrey and Hettie Goodman Ninnis.
While studying nursing at Wayne State University, she met Robert E. Jordan, Sr. ; they married June 1, 1946. In addition to a career as Executive Assistant for a property developed around Atlanta, her hobbies included playing contract and duplicate bridge, reading, garden clubs and quilting and raising four children. She volunteered at Northside-Forsyth Hospital from 1999 to 2007; was chair for the Lenbrook Cookbook development committee. This book is still presented to new Lenbrook residents as a welcome gift.
Following in her Mother and aunts footsteps, she became a respected quilter, with membership in numerous North Georgia Quilt Guilds. She served on the Georgia Quilt Council, the Georgia Quilt Project and the Quilt Makers of Georgia. Lois displayed her 1996 Paralympics quilt at the Faye Gold Gallery. One of her quilts was chosen to be presented to a participating country during the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. She was also commissioned to design a quilt for a local art collector and critic.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, of 68 years; a daughter,Pamela Jordan Hanna and son -in-law Dennis W. Hanna. She is survived by three children: Karen Jordan McMullen (William), Robert E. Jordan, Jr. and William H. Jordan; seven grandchildren: Brian H. McMullen (Tracy), Marc R. McMullen (Tracy), Robert P. Hanna, Katherine H. Herndon (Brian), Robert E. Jordan,III, Taylor M. Jordan, and Sean R. Jordan; eight great grandchildren: Jennifer M. Wible (Robert), Aaron McMullen, Stephanie McMullen, Laura McMullen, Eli McMullen and Aimee McMullen, Jordan Herndon and Hanna Herndon; and one great, great grandson John H. Wible. In addition, Lois leaves behind cousins, a niece, nephews and friends who feel her loss.
