He was born April 6, 1931, in Goessel to John and Alice (Schmidt) Dirksen. He married Maribeth Iserhardt on Oct. 16, 1991. She survives of Newton. He was a farmer and a member of the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church.
Other survivors include a son, Calvin and Carol Dirksen of rural Moundridge; a daughter, Jo and Ed Fletchall of Wichita; stepsons, Peter Neufeld of Newton, Gregory and Dwoung Neufeld of Cambodia, Martin and Noi Neufeld of Tuscan, Ariz., and Jeremy and Kim Neufeld of Wichita; a sister, Twila Bracy of Wichita; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Burial was in Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in care of Miller Funeral Home in Goessel.
