Stephen "Stevie" W. Timmons, 66, passed away July 13, 2014 at the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center, Wichita, KS.

Stevie was born January 31, 1948 in Smith Center, KS, the son of Donald and Roma (Williams) Timmons.

He grew up in Harlan and went to school in Portis, KS, he entered the National Guard during high school and also worked as a lineman. After graduating high school he joined the Navy on April 17, 1968 and was a Seaman on the USS Ozark. After proudly serving his country he was honorably discharged on January 9, 1970. He was employed by the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Rail Road in Nebraska. He fathered three children, Samuel, Miranda and Morgan. He was married to Barb Sadler. During the summer months Steve ran M&M Bait Shop in Kennesaw, NE, he truly loved fishing and enjoyed nature. After retirement Stevie resided in Smith Center for the duration of his life. Stevie had a huge fan base and will keep us laughing for a life time, he is very loved and will be missed dearly.

Stevie was preceded in death by his father, Donald Timmons and two brothers, Johnny Lee and Jay Don Timmons.

He is survived by a daughter, Miranda Timmons of Hildreth, NE; two sons, Samuel Fitzgerald of Hastings, NE, Morgan Timmons of Hildreth, NE; a granddaughter, Alandria Timmons of Nebraska; his mother, Roma Timmons of Phillipsburg, KS; two brothers, Clark and Christy Timmons both of Smith Center, KS; four sisters, Starlyn Coupland of Sioux City, IA, Rhonda Timmons of Phillipsburg, KS, Roe Jene Timmons of Smith Center, KS, Angie Timmons of Phillipsburg, KS and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Stevie's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at All Faiths Funeral Chapel, Smith Center, KS, with July Ketley presiding. There will not be a public visitation, cremation was chosen. Military rites will be presented at Pleasant View Cemetery, Athol, KS. Memorials may be given to the Stephen W. Timmons Memorial Fund in care of the funeral chapel.
