Francis V. Johnson, 92, of Central City, Nebraska died Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at CHI St. Francis in Grand Island, Nebraska.

Funeral services will be Monday, March 8, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Lucas officiating. Visitation will be Monday, March 8, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery.

Francis was born on January 2, 1929 in Holyoke, Colorado to Raymond and Bessie (Cohagen) Johnson.

His mother passed away when he was only two days old and Francis was raised by his grandpa and grandma Johnson, aunts and uncles. He had a very happy childhood and was spoiled by everyone.

He worked for his uncle for several years.

He married Shirley Fyfe on October 30, 1949. They have been married for over 71 years. To this union, 3 children were born; Larry, Jo, and Roger.

Francis served as the School Board President for 8 years at District 27 when his children were in grade school.

Francis also became interested in farming from an early age. In 1963, Francis and Shirley purchased their first farm and it is where he was still living at the time of his death.

His greatest enjoyment in life was his family, passion for farming, and his cattle. He liked to go for rides and drive around the country side looking at crops and cattle. He also liked to attend auctions when he was able, and play cards with his family as well as his card club for over 30 years.

Survivors include his wife- Shirley of Central City, NE; two sons- Larry (Merry) Johnson of Grand Island, NE; and Roger (Laurie) Johnson of Central City, NE; one daughter- Jo Johnson of Central City, NE; eight grandchildren- Angela Johnson of Omaha, NE; Kristin (Matt) Boucher of Murdock, NE; Steven Johnson of Simi Valley, CA; Brenda Montano (Tom Mines) of Osceola, NE; Phillip (Amber) Johnson of Central City, NE; Anastasia (Brady) Meyer of Blue Rapids, KS; Noah Johnson of Central City, NE; and Maliyah Johnson of Central City, NE; five great grandchildren- Alex Montano of Corona, CA; Austin Boucher of Murdock, NE; Jakob Boucher of Murdock, NE; Angus Johnson of Central City, NE and Jasper Johnson of Central City, NE.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother- Blythe Johnson; stepbrother- Gary Johnson; aunts and uncles.
