Kenneth Joel Stevens, 82 years of age, of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 2nd, 2021 at his residence.

Kenneth was born in Somerset, Kentucky on February 11th, 1939, son of the late Kermit R. Stevens and Alice Elizabeth Hardwick Stevens. Kenneth was a retired Somerset City employee with several years in the Somerset Sewer Department. He was a 1957 graduate of Somerset High School, where he was a member of the football team. Kenneth was a quiet natured and kind hearted person who enjoyed life privately. He was of the Baptist Faith and a member of the Langdon Street Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with his morning coffee friends at Hardees.

Kenneth was survived by two sons, Terry Dewayne (and Leslie) Stevens of Saint Marys, Georgia and Kermit Richard Stevens of Plano, Texas; one sister; five grandchildren, Kenzie (and Richard) Norfleet and Ryan Stevens, both of independence, Kentucky, Chelsea Stevens of Somerset, Kentucky, and Kaylee Stevens and Zane Stevens, both of Saint Marys, Georgia; two great grandchildren, Landon Stevens and Weston Purcell; and a host of other relatives and friends who mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kermit Stevens, who departed this life on February 10th, 1992 and Alice Elizabeth Stevens, who departed this life on August 17th, 2006; one son, Kenneth Joel Stevens Jr.; and four sisters, Christine Watkins, Barbara Jean Smith, Betty Ann Kassner, and Alice Elizabeth Stephens.

Visitations were held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9th, 2021 at the Somerset Undertaking Company and Crematory in Somerset, Kentucky.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9th, 2021 in the Chapel of the Somerset Undertaking Company and Crematory with Pastor Curtis Neeley officiating.

Interment followed around 2:00 p.m. in the Somerset City Cemetery in Section 24, which is in front of the maintenance garage.
