She was born in Elizabethtown, New York on May 5, 1966, the daughter of John F. Wimett and the late Betty Jean (Lytle) Wimett.
Tammy is survived by her cherished husband of 31 years, Michael C. Brooks, and her son, Jacob F. Brooks who she loved beyond measure. She is also survived by her siblings, Tina Bigelow (Frank), Terry White (Paul), Thomas Wimett (Kim), along with her numerous and beloved nieces and nephews and their children. Tammy also had supportive aunts, uncles and cousins, and is also survived by her beloved dog, Mya.
Tammy was crowned Modern Miss for New York State in August of 1983, representing New York in parades and events throughout the state.
She graduated from Elizabethtown High School in 1984 and went on to earn her master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from SUNY Plattsburgh in 1989.
She was recognized as a gifted, caring and exceptional educator that children and families throughout the North Country adored.
In 2007, Tammy was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer. In 2014, after almost 7 years in remission, Tammy fractured her right hip, which led to a diagnosis of 4th Stage Breast Cancer Metastasis in her bones.
Her faith gave her the strength to persevere without fear, well beyond all expectations. She wrote about her journey, inspiring many with her deep-seated faith in God, unwavering determination to live fully and ability to spread joy to those she loved.
Tammy was a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Annunciation Catholic Church in Queensbury, providing communion to parishioners, as well as residents at Westmount Nursing Home.
She also volunteered often at the Saratoga Soup Kitchen at the Presbyterian Church.
