Richard C. Gabriel, 72, of Chicago, IL, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2021, in Chicago. He was born and raised in Fort Wayne, IN., the eldest of six siblings.

He graduated from Central Catholic High School and degreed in civil engineering from Purdue University. He was a developer and ahead of his time in architectural design. He loved Chicago city life and collected fine art and lived and breathed Notre Dame football. He was proud to usher at historic Holy Name Cathedral in downtown Chicago. He will be fondly remembered for his legendary wit and one-liners.

He is survived by his siblings, Ronald Gabriel (Huntley, IL), Joseph (Beth) Gabriel (Roanoke, IN), John (Alisa) Gabriel and his sister, Gina Gabriel, of Fort Wayne.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Frieda (Barile) Gabriel; sister, Victoria Gabriel; special aunt, Melveena Gabriel and several loving nieces and nephews.

Mass will be held at Cathedral of Immaculate Conception, 1122 S. Clinton St, Ft Wayne at 10:30 A.M, Saturday, March 13, 2021 with calling one hour prior and procession following to Catholic Cemetery, 3500 Lake Ave, Ft Wayne. Face masks and social distancing are required.
