Philip F. Durham, 80, a retired Muncie businessman, died Monday in Ball Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
He was born in Summitville, graduated from Summitville High School, attended Indiana University and spent most of his life in the Muncie area.
Mr. Durham founded DIY-Group Inc. and was president until his retirement. He also founded Durham Printing Co. in 1945 and Packers Package (now Container Corp. of America). In 1976, Mr. Durham founded Centennial Packaging Co.
He was a former member and past president of Green Hills Country Club, past president of Muncie PAL Club and a member of St. Petersburg Yacht Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Liada Rohr, Seminole, Fla., and Delynn Hearn, Muncie; a son, F. Denny Durham (wife: Sandy), Muncie; a sister, Ruth Cunningham, Clayton, Ga.; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
His wife, Beatrice C. Durham, died in 1991.
Private services will be Friday. Calling will be 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Meeks Mortuary.
