Larry K. Strickland, 82, of Happy, passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2021. Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon with Rick Bloodworth, minister of Happy Church of Christ, officiating.

Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Amarillo. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, March 5, 2021 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon.

Larry was born on December 21, 1938 in Lamesa to Stanley Dayne and Edna Fay (Wray) Strickland. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and served as an MP at Camp Pendleton.

Larry worked as a Feed Yard Mill Foreman for many years and married Lora Talbert in the Methodist Church in Phillips in 1965. They moved to Happy in 1997.

Larry loved to fish and was an avid fan of NASCAR. He also enjoyed motorcycles, tinkering in his shop, cowboying, and was an animal lover. His favorite pastime was spoiling his grandchildren and he was always willing and ready to help anyone in need.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Dayne and Edna Strickland, his in-laws, Wayne and Willie Talbert, his son, Travis Keith Strickland, a granddaughter, Taylor Lane Strickland, two brothers, Don and Charles Strickland, and two brothers-in-law, Willard Reeves and Fred Holcomb.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Lora Strickland of Happy; his daughter, Leah Cleavinger of Lubbock; two sons, Lyle Strickland and wife, Diane of Tulsa, OK and Kyle Strickland and wife, Jen of Conway, MO; daughter-in-law, Kelli Strickland of Guymon, OK; eight grandchildren, Miranda Wilcher and husband, Colten of Amarillo, Hannah Slimp and husband, Taylor of Houston, Ryan Strickland of Amarillo, Jade Zinser and Jeremy Ramirez of Phoenix, AZ, Hollie Strickland of Happy, and Jarred, Rebecca, and MacKenzie Strickland, all of Guymon, OK; four great grandchildren, Berkeley, Blaize, Tansley, and Easton; and five siblings, Jerry Strickland of Conway, MO, Edie Reeves of Borger, Linda Holcomb of Amarillo, Aaron Strickland of Borger, and Elaine Strickland-McMurtry of Fritch.

The family suggests memorials be to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, PO Box 1890, Amarillo, Texas or the American Cancer Society, 3915 Bell St., Amarillo, Texas.
