Charles Floyd Hastings Jr. passed away Feb. 26, 2021, 92 years from the date of his birth. He was born Feb. 26, 1929, to Charles F. Hastings Sr. and Ada Lilliam Hastings (Runge) in Lime, Colo., and grew up on his family's farm on Burnt Mill Road. He married his wife, Lila Mae Kiner, on Aug. 4, 1950, in Pueblo, Colo. She preceded him in death on Dec. 4, 2010. Floyd honorably served his country in the U.S. Army from Feb. 26, 1951, to Feb. 26, 1953, during the Korean War. After his service to his country, Floyd worked at the Colorado Fuel and Iron Company (CF&I) Steel Mill in Pueblo for over 30 years and also managed to farm 300+ acres in Wetmore, Colo. Later in life, Floyd and Lila sold the big farm and moved to a 10-acre parcel in Penrose, Colo., where he continued to farm and tinker until his passing. Floyd found his 2nd family with the members of the 1st Southern Baptist Church in Florence, Colo., and could always be found dishing ice cream to parade patrons during the Penrose Apple Day Festival as a member of the Penrose Senior Center. It always brought a smile to his face to see the happiness in others and he always loved the potluck get-togethers at both his church and the Senior Center. Floyd was also preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Frederick Eugene Hastings and Elwin Lloyd Hastings; and a sister, Clara Juanita Hastings.Floyd honorably served his country in the U.S. Army from Feb. 26, 1951, to Feb. 26, 1953, during the Korean War.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at the Imperial Gardens Cemetery, Pueblo Colo.. Military honors will be presented by Fort Carson.
