OSBORNE, JAMES Aug. 19, 1918 - Mar. 2, 2021 James W. Osborne, 102, of Jackson, formerly of Hillsdale, passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital in Jackson. He was born August 19, 1918 in Reading to James and Vivian (Abbott) Osborne. Jim married Marvel Osborne on July 6, 1957 and she preceded him in death on January 25, 2007. Jim graduated as valedictorian of Allen High School in 1936. He worked for 20 years in maintenance services at Keeshin Transport Systems. From 1964-1985, Jim co-owned and operated Tastee Freez Stores in Jonesville, Lansing, and Allegan and from 1972-1978, he traveled for Tastee Freez as a franchise instructor. He was a member of the Elks Lodge Post 1515, and former member of Faith United Methodist Church in Lansing. Jim enjoyed roller skating, bowling, golfing, fishing, and gardening. He was an avid reader and loved computers. Survivors include two granddaughters; Sherri (Bud) Cox and Kerri Morgan; six great-grandchildren, Tiffany, Katrina, Damian, Adam, Marcus, and Jaxson; one great-great-granddaughter, Emily and cousin, Gerald (Virginia) Osborne of Allen. In addition to his wife, Marvel, James was preceded in death by his daughter, Marilyn Bowers and two siblings, Margaret Hall, and Kenneth Osborne. Family graveside services for James Osborne will be held at a later date at Maplewood Cemetery in Reading. Arrangements are entrusted to VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale. Memorial contributions are suggested to Vista Grande Villa's Extraordinary Living Fund.
