Clyde McGhee – age 80, of Knoxville, passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at home with his family. Clyde was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved to tell stories and was known for his fun sense of humor. Clyde loved following the weather, fishing, watching Westerns, eating sweets, and spending time at a family cabin at Big Pine. Clyde also loved all of his grand dogs. Clyde was a long-time member of Ridgeview Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and worked with the youth. He also enjoyed attending Grace Baptist Church on Oak Ridge Highway with his son's family. Clyde was successful in his sales career, including many years with Austin Powder Company and Dryden Oil Company, due to his good-natured personality. He never met a stranger and could sell ice to an Eskimo. Clyde is preceded in death by parents, Howard and Rhoda Bullock McGhee; 3 brothers; and 4 sisters. He is survived by his wife, Brenda with whom he recently celebrated 60 years of marriage; daughter, Angie; sons, Tony (Linda), Todd (Sylvia), and Clyde Timothy (Amy) McGhee; grandchildren, Dennis (Heather), Kristen (Peyton), Ethan, Madison, and Justin (Natalee) McGhee; Candis (Lucas) Hale, and Sarah (Jeremiah) Gibbs; nine greatgrandchildren; brothers, Marshall (Shirley) and George (Mary) McGhee; a host of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Ted and Donna Loy and the Joe Williams family. The family would like to extend special thanks to Clyde's longtime doctor, Dr. Paul Wakefield, and to Ashely Dunn, and the UT Medical Center Hospice team. Receiving friends will be on Thursday, March 4, 2021, from 4:00-6:00 PM followed by a service at 6:00 PM at Bridges Funeral Home in Knoxville with Clyde Timothy McGhee and David McGill officiating and music by Jim Duncan.
