Waveland, Mississippi - David Roland Bond Jr., was born October 26, 1942 in Biloxi, MS. He attended college for two years studying drafting. He later attended two years of electronics school. In 1965 while Roland was serving in the Coast Guard, his father died. Roland was given an emergency separation and returned home to take over management of the Palms Drive-In restaurant in Gulfport, MS. After getting married and starting a family, he began working as an electrician and eventually worked for 38 years on offshore oil rigs. He was a long-time member of the Mason, Shriner, and York Rite organizations. He was also a member of Scottish Rite where he received his 32nd degree. Roland enjoyed fishing, hunting, and hiking with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents David Roland Bond and Trula Cox Bond, and by his brother Bryan Randall Bond. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Peggy Bond; sons David Roland Bond III and James Bryan Bond; three grandchildren, Austin Bentz, Ashley Bond, and Austin Bond; and one brother, Rodney Mathew Bond of Grapevine, TX. Marshall Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 6, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at the Joppa Shriner Temple, 13280 Shriners Blvd., Biloxi, MS 39352.
