Glenda Ray Wilcox,79, of Abilene completed life’s journey on February 28, 2021 at her residence.

Afamily graveside service will be held on Thursday March 4, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Hamlin Memorial East Cemetery in Hamlin, Texas with Dr. Jeff Reid officiating. Services are under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home 5701 Hwy. 277 S. in Abilene. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 from 5-7:00 PM at the above mentioned funeral home.

Glenda was born on March 31, 1941 in Ballinger, Texas to the late J.D. Long and Annie Catherine (Kelly) Winn. She married the late W.S. Wilcox in 1975. She worked for many years in the Business office of Hendrick Medical Center. She was a member of the Oro Negra Chapter ABWA. Glenda was naturally a creative person and enjoyed working with ceramics, and other crafts. She eventually went on to gain a love for quilting and joined the Quilters Guild. She loved attending the Rose Park Senior Center where she enjoyed friends, playing Dominos and card games. She was a faithful member of Pioneer Drive Baptist church where she loved serving the Lord and fellowshipping with her Sunday School Class. She loved her family and enjoyed creating memories with them. She will be remembered for her high sprit, independent and strong willed attitude.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Greg Simmons; granddaughter, Steffany Loftin; step-son, Tony Wilcox; daughter-in-law, Janice Wilcox; her parents; stepfather, R.A. Winn; brother, Doyce Long; half siblings, Donnell Smith and Ronnie Winn; and a special companion, Jerry Friske. She is survived by her daughters, Glenda “Kay” Loftin and her husband, Keith, Judy Carter and her husband, Jimmy; step-son, Keenan Wilcox; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; half-sisters, Cheryl Wiemuth and her husband Bobby, and Edwina Hulsey and her husband, David; numerous nieces, nephews other relatives, and friends.
