Rush Springs - PAUL GERALD "COOKIE" MAYES, 66, of Rush Springs, passed away Monday, Oct. 22, 2007, in Rush Springs.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Bailey Cemetery, with the Rev. Alvin Miller officiating. Services are under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow.
Cookie was born Feb. 13, 1941, in Marlow, to Everett and Essie Preston Mayes. He attended school in Bray. He lived in the Rush Springs area all of his life. Cookie married Seretta Lang on Jan. 19, 1959, in Marlow. He retired after 17 years as the owner of a gas station.
Cookie enjoyed coon hunting, fishing, riding the tractors, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Seretta Mayes of the home; two sons, Rusty Mayes and wife Donna of Bray, David Mayes and wife Martha of Oklahoma City; a daughter, Teresa Baxter and husband Kris of Davis; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, F.A. Smith of Marlow; a sister, Rita Boatman and husband Harvey of Duncan; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Olen Mayes and Lee Roy Mayes.
