Marie was born on October 25, 1928 in Lonestar, TX to Charles and Maud (Hastings) Gasway. She married her first husband, JD Tippit, on December 26, 1946 in Clarksville, TX who preceded her in death. Marie married her second husband, Harry D. Thomas in 1966 in Dallas, TX, who also preceded her in death. Marie was a home maker.

Marie Tippit was a soul that has been dealt a life of hardships. You would never know that because she took her hardships and found a way to make herself stronger and lift others up as she walked her own journey. She was resilient. She had an unquenchable light that warmed you from the inside out. She was humble. In just a moment of visiting with her you would know that God was her source of strength, success, and happiness. As much as you want to make her life a tragic story you can't. Her countenance was joyful, thankful and generous. She wanted to give to others not be given to. She wanted to reach out and befriend. She wanted to pray for you not to be prayed for. She saw herself as a servant of Christ who showed love to all. Any success she had in her life she would always send any praise back to her heavenly Father who she diligently served and personally knew. Marie always had enough 'mom' for us all.

She is survived by: one son; one daughter; one brother and sister-in-law; 11 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; son, Allan Tippit; sister, Erma Jean Williams; brother, Narvel Gasway.

Marie and my grandfather were first cousins

Her first husband was the Dallas police officer killed by Lee Harvey Oswald 45 minutes after the assassination of President John F Kennedy.
