Robert Michael Sheppard passed away Friday February 26th 2021 after nearly a year long battle with pancreatic cancer.
There will be a public visitation for Mike at Feldner/Ritchay Funeral Home in Nekoosa, WI on Saturday, March 6, 2021 from 9:00-11:00 AM. After the visitation there will be a private family service at the funeral home. There will also be a Celebration of Life in June 2021.
Born September 26, 1949 in Pontiac IL to Robert and Marian (Van Scoy) Sheppard. Raised in Elgin IL attending both St Joseph’s and St Edward’s schools.He married Diane Hansen in 1973. Their marriage was blessed with a daughter Amy and sons Noah and Benjamin. It later ended in divorce.
In 2003 he married Linda (Ellis) Waters and was blessed with a bonus daughter Jennifer and bonus son Stephen.
The majority of Mike’s career was spent with Thomson Newspapers including time spent living in Canada, IL, and WI overseeing corporate operations. He retired in 1998 and moved to Rome. In 2015 he came out of retirement to tackle the roll of noon aide at Grant Elementary. His impact reached far and wide. (NO SMILING!) (GO CUBS!)
He was predeceased by his parents, brother, James, godson Timothy Huske, former father-in-law Harold Hansen, and in-laws David and Joan Ellis.
Mike will be sorely missed by his wife Linda, daughter Amy and spouse Jeremy Koonce, grandchildren Jameson and Heidi, son Noah, son Benjamin, grandson Benjamin, daughter Jennifer and spouse David Plemon, grandchildren Addison and Jackson and son Stephen Waters and spouse Sarah, grandchildren Daniel and Rozlyn. Siblings Laurie (Jim) Huske, Brian (Jolene), Paul (Jan), Katie (William) Ross, John (Carrie), and sister-in-law Verna. Brothers and sister- in-law Mark (Theresa) Ellis, Greg (Kim) Ellis and Lisa (Greg) Bennett.
He is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews and former in-laws too many to include.
The family would like to thank Dr. Dickman, Dr. Kirschling, UW Cancer Center, Heartland Hospice and all staff associated with his care.
