Mr. William “Bill” Samuel Benson, Jr., age 78 of Tallapoosa, Georgia, passed away on Saturday evening, February 27, 2021 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 11, 1942 in Etowah, Tennessee, the son of the late William Samuel Benson, Sr. and the late Gladys Marie Adair Benson. He was retired military, having proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, and was a member of Etowah First Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Elizabeth Pigg, sister, Anna Louise Cerbasi, and a son-in-law, Paul Morris.
Survivors include his loving wife, Barbara Ann Causey Benson; children: Becky & Raymond Bowles of Bremen, Lydia & Tammy Hollis of Carrollton, Don and Lucy Benson of Marietta, Lynn Morris of Tallapoosa, and Amy Benson of Bremen; step-children: Jason Thomas of Tallapoosa and Leslie and Tony McAdams, of Buchanan; sister and brother-in-law, Debra & Jim Oien of Port St. Lucie, Florida; brother, Tommy Benson of Cleveland, Tennessee; twenty-four grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; son-in-law, Allen Pigg of Buchanan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, March 2nd, at 3 PM from the Chapel of Hightower Funeral Home with Reverend Shane Leggett and Reverend Clarence Singler officiating. Haralson County Veterans Association will provide military honors.
Hightower Funeral Home of Bremen, Georgia has charge of the arrangements.
