August 30, 1946 - February 25, 2021
Joseph Ray Dooley passed away at his home in Comfort, Texas into the presence of his Savior on February 25, 2021. He was born on August 30, 1946 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Lenore Podbreger Dooley and Lloyd Weldon Dooley. Ray had a strong Christian faith and started each morning with prayers for those he loved.
Ray graduated from College High School in Bartlesville, Oklahoma in 1964 and afterwards attended Oklahoma State University, graduating in 1968 with a BS in accounting.
He served in the Army Security Agency of the U S Army during the Viet Nam war. After his honorable discharge from the army, he had a career that spanned over 25 years with Phillips Petroleum Company as a CPA with special focus on various operating systems. After retirement from Phillips he moved to Texas where he consulted for several oil and gas companies.
Ray was a lifelong baseball fan. He coached several youth teams in his younger years and had an uncanny talent for remembering nearly every detail of games that he coached or watched. He lived the last season of his life in Comfort Texas where he enjoyed a quiet life, taking much joy from watching the deer on his property.
Ray is survived by his sister, Diana Dooley Andrews, and brother in law, Gary Robert Andrews of Colleyville, Texas, both of whom will greatly miss him. He is also survived by his stepchildren whom he dearly loved, Jonathan Dooley of Columbus, Texas, and Stephanie Dooley Thompson of Dallas, Texas. Other survivors include his two nieces and 6 great nieces and nephews.
Burial with a time of remembrance will be at a later date in Fredericksburg, Texas.
