Mrs. Anna Mae Carter 78, of Rural Elkville, died at 6:25 p.m. Sunday in Doctors Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, Il. She was a member of the Elkville Baptist Church. She was a resident of Elkville for the past 3 years and a resident of Buckner for 61 years prior to that. She was born in Galatia, Dec. 18, 1892, the daughter of John W. and Nancy Vickers Gholson. She was married to Ewel B. Carter May 14, 1911. He preceded her in death also. She leaves a daughter Sybil Doctorman with whom she lived in Elkville, sons, Cecil J. Carter of Hobart, In. and Kenneth G. Carter of Coffeen; sisters, Mrs. Elsie Chaney of Valparaiso, Ind., Mrs. Mary Boyd of Gary, In., 8 grand children and seven great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Elkville Baptist Church with the Rev. James E. Kerley officiating. Burial will be in the Tates Chapel Cemetery in Galatia.
