A Boone County man died, late Wednesday night after he was struck by a pickup truck on U.S. 119, according to Deputy Richard Rose of the Boone County Sheriff's Department.

Walter Watson Dickens, 28, of Madison apparently was standing in the middle of the road when the northbound truck hit him at 11:35 p.m., Rose said. He was taken to Boone Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

He was a Marine veteran.

Surviving: wife, Cheri; father and stepmother, Walter and Cora Dickens of Ridgeview; sisters, Tammy Dickens and Pamela Rush, both of Huntington; Carolyn Harden of California.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Memory Gardens, Madison. There will be no visitation. Handley Funeral Home, Danville, is in charge of arrangements.
