Martin is my great great grandfather. In years of looking the only hint of a middle name for him I've found was in the 1865 Minnesota state census where he is "M V". It might help the confusion with the other Martins.

http://www.suvcwdb.org/Martin Brumbaugh was born in the state of Pennsylvania Aug. 4, 1829 and died at Chelan, Wash., Sept. 4, 1916. The family emigrated from the state of Pennsylvania to Indiana when he was a small boy, and from that state he again moved to Minn., in the year of 1859. He was married to Miss Roaney Leavitt, Feb. 2, 1861, and enlisted in the army Oct. 14, 1862. He served his country until Oct. 31, 1863, when he was discharged. The deceased was a father of ten children, four of whom are dead. Marion, Martha and Martin reside at Chelan, Isaac and Fred at Tolt, and Emma at Seattle.
