Born on October 13, 1921, in Bloomington, she was the daughter of Horace and Bessie (Jacobs) Robertson. She worked in the Monroe County Clerk’s Office for many years, and later retired as the office manager in the law office of her husband, C. Kent Carter.
Jean is survived by five stepchildren, Pam Carter, of Minneapolis, MN, David Carter (Lisa), of Asheville, NC, Brent Carter (Betsy), of West Chester, OH, Kevin Carter (Sharon), of Jasper, IN, and Kurt Carter (Stephanie), of Ecuador; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a niece, Judie Butcher, of Bloomington.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, John Robertson; her first husband, Danath Christy; and her second husband, C. Kent Carter.
