She was married to the late William "Bill" Foster. In August 1986, she began her teaching career at Jack Yates High School. In late 2000, she came out of retirement, and returned to teaching South Early College High School until September 2019.
She is survived by three daughters, Tesha Yvonna Foster, Jennifer Devon Foster, and Allison Foster.
