Richard Alan Hess, 58, of Hershey, Pennsylvania died February 22, 2021 at UPMC Pinnacle Community Osteopathic Hospital in Harrisburg.

He was born on May 8, 1962, in Evanston, Illinois, to Merle E. and Carmena (Long) Hess.

In June of 1967, the family moved to a farm north of New Oxford, Pennsylvania. A 1980 graduate of New Oxford High School, Richard was a member of the chess club and track team. He served four years in the Army, where he was stationed in South Korea. Richard was a resident of Hershey since 2007.

He was preceded in death by; his father, Merle, (2006), and his mother, Carmena, (2010); and is survived by; a sister, Judith Hess Taylor of Rohnert Park, California; two brothers, David E. of Hershey and Robert C. of Coatesville; as well as two nieces and five nephews.

There will be no Memorial services. Contributions can be made in Richard’s name to the charity of your choice.
