KAHOKA, Mo. - Anna Catherine Johnson, 84, of Kahoka, Mo., died Friday, Oct. 17, 2003 at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

She was born April 5, 1919 in Joliet, Ill., a daughter of Frank and Anna Solovski. She married Lester H. Johnson on June 2, 1940 in Joliet, Ill. He died on Jan. 20, 1996.

She was a member of the Catholic Church in Joliet. She and her husband moved to Clark County in the late 1940's.

She had worked at Swift's and then at Sheller Globe in Keokuk for seven years. She was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary in Kahoka.

Mrs. Johnson enjoyed embroidery and making quilts and rag rugs. She liked doing yard work and canning vegetables from her garden for her family and friends. She was an avid recycler.

Mrs. Johnson loved to cook and loved to dance to polka music. While her husband was alive, they liked to take short drives.

Above all else, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include: four daughters, Rita Vineyard and her husband George of Burlington, Margaret Ann Wade of Clinton, Ill., Ruth Brotherton and her husband Paul and Mildred Foglesong and her husband Michael all of Kahoka; three sons, LeRoy Johnson and his wife Gloria of Burlington, Ray Johnson and his wife Charlotte of Quincy, Ill., John Johnson and his wife Debra of West Burlington; one step-son, Leonard Johnson and his wife Ruth of Hamilton, Ill.; two sisters, Margaret Olszta of Kankakee, Ill., and Mary Miller of Chicago; 22 grandchildren; a step-grandchild; 19 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; several foster grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, at the Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka, with Rev. Beryl Cragg officiating.
