Anstey, Joseph Gerard, M.D. Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2021.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. George Anstey M.D., his mother, Catherine L., and his brother, G. Stephen Anstey Ph.D. He is survived by his dearest wife Erika L. (nee Dickey) Anstey; brothers, John T. (Colleen) Anstey M.D., James P. Anstey, and sister Mary Ellen (L.D. Whitaker) Anstey R.N.; dear uncle of Christopher (Melissa), Tom, and Pete (Brigit); dearest great nieces and nephews Ally, Maggie, Miles, Jake, Elle, Clare, and Nora; dear mother-in-law Anita F. Dickey; sister-in-law Dana (Jarrod) Babel; brother-in-law, Douglas (Cindy) Dickey, Bruce (Dodie) Dickey, Mathew (Lisa) Dickey; and nieces and nephews, Meghan, Sam, Allison, Caroline, Henry (Kelsey), Joseph, and Pete.

Joe graduated from St. Louis University High, Creighton University, St. Louis College of Pharmacy, and the Medical School of the Caribbean. He loved being a physician and called his patients "kid." Joe loved sports, and as an avid St. Louis University Billiken fan and supporter, seldom missed a home game.

The family expresses special thanks to his caregivers, Theresa, Jarlean, Nancy, Evelyn's House and BJC Hospice Services.

Services: A private mass and visitation were held on February 27, 2021, at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, 3854 Flad Avenue, St. Louis, MO. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery in Affton, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a cancer research charity.
