"I, Mrs. Elmira L. [Sparks] Bagby am the widow of Thomas M. Bagby who departed this life on 9 October 1880 in Marion County, Texas. I have not remarried. I was married to him on 16 November 1860 in Upshur County, name Camp in the state of Texas. My husband, Thomas M. Bagby, enlisted and served in the military service of the Confederate States. I was born in July 1848 and I am 61 years old. I was born in Cuthbert, Georgia. I have lived in Texas since I was seven years old. I have lived for four years in Fort Worth, Texas. We were married near Pittsburg, Texas. My husband served four years. He was born in Caledonia, Tennessee. He was a private in Captain Whitfield's Legion, afterward promoted to Lieutenant in the same company.

Thomas M. Bagby enlisted in Company F, 24th Texas Cavalry Regiment. He enlisted on 7 March 1862. He reported on company roll on May and June 1864, last on file he is
reported present. 23 February 1910

Mrs. Elmira Bagby was a resident of the Confederate Woman's Home in Austin, Texas at the time of her death. Cook Funeral Home in Austin handled the arrangements for her transportation by railroad to Fort Worth to be buried beside her daughter.
