Jo Ann Weisinger Wood passed from this life on Friday February 26, 2021 in Athens Texas. She was born to Grady Jones and Theresia Jacqueline Weisinger on August 7, 1948 in Kermit Texas. She married Gerald Wood on November 24, 1967.
They raised two boys in Athens. JoAnn had worked for Gulf States United for several years as a telephone operator and later worked as a teacher at a private Christian school. She graduated from University of Texas at Tyler with a bachelor of science degree in education and worked several years as an elementary school teacher before retiring to become a very gifted quilting grandmother. Jo Ann was a member of the Faith Fellowship Church in Athens Texas. She taught children's and ladies Bible classes for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Grady Jones Weisinger Jr and her sister Anniemae Pettigrew.
She is survived by her husband Gerald Wayne Wood of Athens, their sons David Wayne Wood and Wesley Gordon ( Charlie) Wood and five grand children, her brothers Jimmy, Jerry, Larry, Danny, Jackie and Rickey and her sister Patricia Speake of Tyler.
Visitation will be at Autrey Carroll-Lehr funeral home in Athens on Tuesday March 2, 2021 from 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be held at Faith Fellowship Church in Athens at 2 pm on March 3,2021. Burial to follow at Ash Cemetery in Athens.
