Edward Schaff, 40 years old, a salesman for the W. C. Kile Livestock Commission Company, was found dead last night off the Salisbury road, two miles northeast of Independence, with a gun shot wound over his heart.

Indications were Mr. Schaff had shot himself accidentally when he crawled through a barbed wire fence, pulling a shotgun after him. His feet were caught in the wire and the barrel of the gun was pointed toward him when found.

Mr. Schaff left his home at Strode avenue and Independence road about 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon to hunt on the Salisbury road. When he did not return last night, the family became alarmed. Gerald Schaff, a 17-year old son, and two neighbors, W. I. Farmer and Max Lynch, set out to find him.

Besides the son, Mr. Schaff is survived by his widow, Mrs. Anna Schaff, and two other children, Ruth Schaff and Joseph Schaff, 9-year-old twins.
