O. Earl Shortt, 73, went to be with the Lord Sunday, March 25, 2001. He was a native of Raven, Va., and had been a Peninsula resident for 57 years. He was employed at NASA as an Operational Support Division Section Head, retiring in 1984 after 41 years service. Mr. Shortt was a member of the Banbury Hunt Club, the National Rifle Association and was a US Army veteran. He attended Warwick Assembly of God.

Survivors include his wife, Louise P. Shortt; one son and daughter-in-law, David E. and Ann Shortt of York County; and two grandchildren, Sherin Dee and Michael David Shortt.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, at the W.J. Smith and Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. David Highlander and the Rev. Greg Cox officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Park.
