She was born on August 5, 1940, in New Berlin the daughter of Henry and Violet (Mohler) Hughs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Richard Powell; her parents; her big brother Dean Hughs; and her oldest sister, Rosemary (Hughs) Baker.
Judy is survived by her little sister, Irene Hughs; three sons, Greg Giddings, David Giddings, and Steve Cook. She had six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Judy was a very positive, fun-loving woman who spent her free time traveling the world and enjoyed all manner of crafts such as painting, sewing, and quilting. She was a dedicated member of South Side Christian Church. She retired from the State of Illinois Department of Revenue many years ago and enjoyed a full and rich life.
