Earl F. “Bennie” Bennett, 80 of Blue Grass passed away Monday, April 17, 2017 at the Iowa Masonic Home. Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon on Friday, April 21, 2017 at the Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Iowa Masonic Home. He was born on May 14, 1936 in Davenport, son of Earl F. and Mildred (Brown) Bennett, Sr. Bennie was united in marriage to Barbara Ritza. He proudly served in the U.S. AirFore during the Korean Conflict. He worked for the Davenport Police Department for three years; later retiring for the Rock Island Arsenal. Bennie enjoyed boating, spending time in nature and singing at his church. He adored his grandchildren and loved spending time with them. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 60 years, Barbara; children: Carol Beach, Dan (Judy) Bennett and Deb (Brad) Neff; grandchildren: Cory (Amy) Neff, Keith Bennett, Carri Neff, Kara (Ali) Hafez, Nathan, Mike and Nick Beach; great grandchildren; Sierra, Tommy, Crue and Deklin. In addition to his parents Bennie was preceded in death by an infant son, Stephen; brother, Jon Dean Bennett and father and mother-in-law, Ralph (Florence) Ritza. The family would like to thank the staff at Genesis Hospice and the Iowa Masonic Home, Memory Care Unit, for their love and care.
