He is survived by his children, Robert H. Barber Jr. (Valerie L Barber), and M. April (Barber) Donnelly (Christopher R. Donnelly); grandchildren, James M. Northup (deceased), Cassie L. Barber, Brendan Donnelly, Jared R. Barber, Benjamin S. Alexander and Chris L. Alexander. He was the half- brother of Joseph Peck, Mary Gilligan and late Mildred Moore. He also leaves step-children, step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
He served honorably in The United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.
Bob enjoyed going to the Rose Shack every day to visit his close friends Carl Erickson and Sue Tietze .
Birdwatching was a favorite pastime, he kept multiple bird feeders full for birds (and chipmunks and squirrels!). He also had a small hobby farm behind his house with everything from Emus to miniature goats and many ducks and other birds. He loved gardening and would be found planting a variety of flowers and plants in the yard.
Bob Loved Country music and enjoyed vacations in Branson Missouri, Nashville TN.
You could often find him hanging out in the garage working on some project with his son and his grandson. He Enjoyed taking weekend rides with his daughter to visit estate sales and taking his little dog Moonie for rides to Carpenter’s Farm for treats.
Grampy enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and spoiling them whether it be vacations or something that their hearts desired. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
Visiting hours were held Monday March 1, 2021 in Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., South Kingstown. Burial was in New Fernwood Cemetery, Kingston.
