Mrs. Tompkins retired from the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Indian Head after 28 years. She enjoyed reading the Bible and praying, spending time with her family, playing cards with her friends, and doing her many craft projects.

Daughter of the late Godfrey F. Muckelbauer and the late Leota Esenmenger.

Predeceased by her parents; her former husband, Buddy Tompkins; and sister, Dorothy Kane.

Survived by one daughter, Donna M. (Byron) Strain of Waldorf, MD; one son, Glenn C. (Dina) Mayhew of Waldorf, MD; siblings, MaryLou Andrus, Regina Lang, and Raymond Muckelbauer; grandchildren, William C. (Jennifer L.) Mayhew and Sean M. Bayhew; and great grandchild, Kaitlyn Rae Mayhew. Also survived by former husband, Louis C. Mayhew.

A private memorial service was held Sunday, June 13, 2010 at Raymond Funeral Chapel, La Plata, MD.
