Rev. Dr. Paul L. Walker, passed away on February 23, 2021 at the age of 89. A memorial service was conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 26th at Mount Paran Central Church of God, Atlanta.

Rev. Walker is survived by his wife of 68 years, Carmelita; son, Mark Walker and wife, Udella Richardson Walker; grandson, Justin Walker and wife, Amanda; granddaughter, Ashten Dick and husband, Caleb; great grandchildren, Kennedy Walker, Judah Walker and Levi Dick; brother, Don Walker and wife, Jackie; brother, Dean Walker and wife, Judy. Walker is predeceased by his parents, Rev. Paul H. and Margaret Walker; son, Rev. Paul Dana Walker.

Born in Minot, North Dakota, Rev. Walker was called to the pastoral ministry in 1950 and attended Lee College, Presbyterian College, Emory University, and Georgia State University. He began his ministry with the Church of God denomination from Cleveland, TN., serving as State Sunday School and Youth Director of California from 1955-1959, and one year in the same post (1959-1960) at Tennessee.

Rev. Walker is perhaps best-known for his nearly 40-year leadership as the senior pastor of the Mt. Paran Church of God in Atlanta. In 1960, Rev. Walker accepted the pastorate of the Hemphill Ave. Church of God, which relocated to Mount Paran Road, in North Atlanta, in 1967. The name of the church was changed at that time to Mount Paran Church of God. In his 37 years as the senior pastor, Rev. Walker led the church to become one of the largest, most prominent Church of God congregations in the city, nation, and world. Under Walker's leadership, the church underwent several building programs at the Mount Paran Road cite, and then expanded to four additional locations throughout the Metro-Atlanta area. , Mount Paran Church of God became "one church in five locations" reaching multiple thousands every Sunday morning. In 1997 the church appointed Rev. Walker "Pastor Emeritus" where he served in the role until his passing.

Rev. Walker left Mount Paran Church of God when he was elected to the highest office of general overseer for the Church of God in 1996. He served in that role from 1996-2000. Following Rev. Walker's tenure as general overseer, he became Chancellor of Education for the Church of God, serving four years in the role until being re-elected to the International Executive Committee of the Church of God as third assistant general overseer in 2004. He served two years in that role and was elected secretary general in 2006 where he served for two additional years.

Rev. Paul Walker has authored eight published books and has received numerous recognitions, both within the Church of God and across the Evangelical spectrum. He has also been recognized for awards in education from his alma maters, and within the Atlanta community. His memberships and accomplishments are as follows:
