Nancy P. Schuster of Elkins Park, Pennsylvania died Friday, September 17, 2010 at the Wyncote Church Home. She was 79 years old. Nancy was born February 15, 1931, the daughter of the late Joseph Pence and the late Elizabeth Pence (nee - Adams).

She is the beloved wife of Edgar H. Schuster. Mother of William Schuster and his wife Francie, Nina Allred and her husband Charles and Claire Schuster. Grandmother of Nicholas Allred, Whitney Schuster, Corey Allred, Laurel Schuster, Gerald Fittipaldi and Justin Fittipaldi. Sister of Patricia Sokoloff.

Nancy dedicated her life to helping those less fortunate than herself. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia and was raised and educated in Pennsylvania. She earned an RN degree from Hahnemann and practiced nursing for several years while attending college at the University of Pennsylvania where she earned a BA (pre-med) and later, an MA in philosophy. Beginning in the early 60s she became a committeewoman for the Democratic Party of Cheltenham Township, and she organized several local and one statewide campaign for candidates she believed would best serve the people. She was a McGovern delegate at the 1972 Democratic convention in Miami Beach. She also did volunteer work and was registrar at the Jenkintown Music School. In her mid-forties, Nancy entered Villanova Law School where she earned her JD in 1979. After graduating, she worked for the Bucks County Legal Aid Society for two dozen years, fighting as an advocate for the impoverished and the elderly. Outside of her professional life, Nancy’s family was her main passion. She loved music and could play violin, organ, and piano; she was also a member of two choirs. She and her husband Ed were longtime subscribers to the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Metropolitan Opera. Nancy also enjoyed dance and the visual arts and occasionally drew and painted. Travel was another of her passions and the family camped all across the United States and Canada from the time the children were two or three years old. Later, Nancy enjoyed foreign travel, especially Italy, France, and Norway. She will be remembered by those who knew her as a woman of the deepest integrity. A force for good has left the world and will be missed. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM, on Sunday, October 10.
