JOHN DAVID COULTER
Age 69, died Sunday, June 6, 1954 at his home 296 Oriole Ave., following an illness of several months. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Muir Brothers Funeral Home, the Rev. Frank S. Hemingway officiated and burial was made at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Lapeer.
Mr. Coulter was born September 4, 1884 in Lapeer Township and was a lifelong resident of Lapeer County.
He is survived by his widow, Martha; three sons, Lloyd and Harry of Flint; John D. Coulter, in the U.S. Marines; four step-sons: Harold Thick, Flint; Kenneth Thick, Lapeer; Earl Pittinger in the U.S. Army and Robert Pittinger at home; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Thelma Miller and Mrs. Rose Flynn, Lapeer; three brothers, William Coulter, Lapeer; Earl and Leon Coulter of Flint and one sister, Mrs. Bertha Ernsting, Flint.
Mr. Coulter was a member of the I.O.O.F. No. 94; Unity Encampment 148 and Canton Fleming 56.
He was employed for many years on the Grand Trunk Western Railroad maintenance crew, retiring several years ago.

OPAL “JEAN” (WILSON/JENNINGS) McRILL

Of Swartz Creek, Durand and Baldwin, MI She passed away on November 25, 2020. Daughter of Alvin F. and Ethel Gladys (Gillett) Wilson, Opal Jean was born August 21, 1925 in Carlinville, IL. She was married to David William Jennings, Phillip E. Smalley and Budd J. McRill.

Surviving are adult children, Linda Kay, Robert Edward and Susan Kay McRill.  She was predeceased by son David William Jennings, II.

There are no services planned at this time. Arrangements were entrusted to Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington.

KATIE ANN WOODBURY
Of Flint, age 36, passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2021. Cremation has taken place and no services will be held at this time. Katie shared the Gift of Life with organ donation.
 Katie was born in Flint, Michigan on November 26, 1984, daughter of Richard and Betty (Jarman) Woodbury.
 Katie is survived by son, Aiden; mother, Betty Woodbury; sister, Shannon Conway; grandfather, James Jarman; nephews, Chayton and Caleb; niece, Caleeya; many aunts, uncles and cousins. Katie was preceded in death by her father, Richard; grandparents, Joan Jarman, Dale and Evelyn Wood-bury; Aunt, Jacqueline Pickelman; cousin, Jimmy Nelson.    
WILLIAM LEON “BILL” BURMAN, SR.
Age 72 of Owosso passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2020, at his home.

Funeral services will be held 11am Saturday, September 5, 2020, at Nelson-House Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Moull officiating. Burial will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 2pm to 8pm.

William was born April 13, 1948, in West Branch, the son of Donald and Geneva (Beamish) Burman.

He graduated from Corunna High School, class of 1966 and served in the United States Navy.

Bill enjoyed trips to the Casino and traveling on his motor bike. He was an avid U of M fan and especially looked forward to attending all of his kids and grandkids sporting events and school activities.

He was employed through the years with Amperage Electric and was a member of the International Brothers of Electrical Workers.

William is survived by his children William Burman, Jr., Corey T. Burman and Katelyn Burman; grandchildren Daemion, Kenzie, Alicia, Dalton and Nathan; sisters Bonnie Mason, Janet (Charles) Wright and Velva (Art) Kinney; several nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents and brother Donald Burman Jr.

EDITH AUGUSTA (BEACH-BARTLEY) DANTZER
Age 95, of Flint, died, on Thursday, October 22, 2020, in Symphony Nursing Home in Linden. A funeral celebrating Edith's life will take place at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at North End Baptist Church in Mt. Morris, 7360 Clio Rd, Mt Morris, MI 48458. Pastor Jon Locke to officiate, with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Edith's family will be present to receive friends at North End Baptist Church in Mt. Morris, on Tuesday, from 11:00 am until time of the time of service at 1:00 pm. Memorial contributions in Edith's name may be considered to the Alzheimer's Association. Edith was born on September 8, 1925, in Kerry, Oregon, to Mr. & Mrs. Charles and Iva (Streeter) Beach. Edith was raised and educated in Michigan. In a diner in West Branch, Edith met the love of her life, Carl Dantzer. The two dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on May 7, 1949; Sadly, he preceded her in death on September 25, 2018. 
While raising six children, Edith returned to school and earned a diploma from Beecher High School in 1973. She would then work for the Beecher School District in the food service department for 18 years, retiring in 1988.
Edith was a devoted homemaker, not only to her own family but to many others as well. She was always the hostess for all holidays and family gatherings.  Edith was an avid gardener, and she and Carl enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and abroad. 
Edith leaves to cherish her memory her children: Wilma Bartley Storrs and husband, Douglas Storrs, Carl and wife, Laurie Dantzer, Michael and wife, Bonnie Dantzer, Robert and wife, Jan Dantzer, and Charles and wife, Lynette Dantzer; daughter-in-law, Claudette Dantzer; 15 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Nora David, and Doris Maynard;  and several nieces and nephews. 
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Carl; son, Gary Dantzer; grandson, Carl Anthony Dantzer Jr., grand-daughter, Corrinne Dantzer, a great-grandson, Brady Dantzer;  two sisters: Iva and Ellen and two brothers: Charley and Archie.

THELMA (LOY) WARREN
Of Ovid, May 16 1934; private funeral services were held at 2:30 o’clock Saturday afternoon for Mrs. Thelma Laureatte Warren, 34, who died at 5:30 o’clock Saturday at the Memorial Hospital at Owosso. Mrs. Warren, wife of James Warren, was a well-known Ovid woman and the mother of four small children.
Mrs. Warren was taken ill of Scarlet Fever at the hospital 18 days ago, a short time after giving birth to a son. She was thought to be recovering from the Scarlet Fever when blood poisoning developed and for several days she had been crucially ill.
The rides were held at the Jennings-Lyons Funeral Chapel in Owosso, the Rev. A. H. Thompson officiating. Burial took place at the Maple Grove Cemetery here.
Mrs. Warren was born in Macomb Co., Ohio on September 4, 1899, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Loy. She has resided in Middlebury Township south of Ovid for 13 years and was married to James Warren on December 24, 1920 in Owosso. She was an active member of the Burton Farmers Club and Middlebury extension group.
Surviving are the husband and two sons and two daughters. They are: Loy James, 9; Phyllis Mae, 7; Mary Ellen, 2; and the infant son, Bruce Le Moyne, born April 23. She also leave her parents who reside in Corunna; also two brothers, Charles and August Loy, both of Corunna, and a sister Mrs. Rex Teeters of Durand and a grandmother, Mrs. Anna Townsend of Corunna. A daughter, Norma Gene, died August 2, 1931, at the age of seven.

Of Swartz Creek - Age 95, died Tuesday, February 23, 2021. A private family service will be held 8:30 AM Friday, February 26, 2021 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek Pastor Brad Foster officiating. Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. A public visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday from 5-8 PM. Those desiring may make contributions to the Dorothy J. Wheeler Memorial Fund, c/o the family. Dorothy was born January 8, 1926 in Livonia Township, the daughter of Marcellus and Ethel (Kuhn) Clement. She married Howard Wheeler October 20, 1944 in Wayne and he preceded her in death February 20, 1992. She had resided in Swartz Creek for the past 64 years. Dorothy was a 60 year member of Duffield United Methodist Church, where she was involved in the Duffield United Methodist Women, and was the Education Chairperson, and member of the Board of Trustees. She enjoyed her family and helping others. The family wishes to extend special thanks to special niece, Sharon Downings of Battle Creek and the Lee family in Alaska. Surviving are: her children, Timothy (Terry) Wheeler of Lennon, Karen Wheeler of Mt. Morris, Nancy Wheeler of Swartz Creek, and Gail (Chris) Bemis of Flushing; grandchildren, Karry (Jimmy) Young of North Carolina, Tim (Gwen) Wheeler II of Swartz Creek, Marty Wheeler of Flint Township, Angela (Chris) Larner of Lennon, and Tyler Wheeler of Lennon; great grandchildren, Kourtney, Kingsley, Tim III, Karrylin, Casey, Savannah, Cruz, and Emma; brother, David Clement of Florida; sister-in-law, Tish Wheeler of Fenton; and several other, nieces, nephews, and cousins. FRANKLIN WILLARD HAMILTON
Age 97, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2021. Private funeral service to take place. Frank was born on November 22, 1923 to James Arthur Hamilton and Georgia Belle Dowell in Benton, Illinois. He attended a one-room schoolhouse in his youth and later graduated from McLeansboro High School. He earned a BA and MA in Creative Writing at Southern Illinois University, 1949, and a MA in Education from Kansas State Teachers College, 1955, and a PhD in English from the University of Kansas, 1961. Frank married Betty Jean Spellmeyer in 1956 and relocated to Flint to teach at Flint Community College (Mott Community College). He taught English, American Liter-ature and Creative Writing, while always encouraging his students to be creative as advisor for the Huron Review, a student poetry publication, for many years.
Frank was a creative prolific wordsmith and reveled in vivid imagery. His publication included: Thoreau on the Art of Writing, Leaf Scar, Love Cry, Christmas Book of Poetry, and Nancy and her Angels. His books are in the Library of Congress.
Since retirement in 1986, Frank has kept busy with poetry publications, enjoying grand-children, camping, “puttering” with his cars, and watching the backyard antics of birds, squirrels, and people. His kind, loving, and gentle soul will truly be missed.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Betty of 64 years, and Lucille Brodersen (m. 1952-1954, mother of Ann); sisters, Fern (Warren) Gibbs, Joyce (Howard) Whitfield, and MaeDell (Morton) Wasserman. Survived by his children, Doug (Diane) Hamilton of Flushing, Karen (Mark) DeGalan of Canton, Ohio, and Ann (James) Short of Suisun, California; grandchildren, Jason (Lyn) Short, Joel Short, Craig (Trisha) Hamilton, Neil Hamilton, Luke DeGalan, and Anna DeGalan; great-grandchildren, Natalie, Annalia, Stella, Andrew, and Morgan.
