Graveside services for Harold Helms, 87, of Reynolds will be held on Monday, March 1, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Hillcrest Cemetery. Mr. Helms passed away at his residence on February 24, 2021.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Reynolds. Harold was the principal at Reynolds High School for many years and purchasing agent for Taylor County Board of Education. He taught the Samaritan Sunday School for 30 years. He coached The Reynolds Elementary School Basketball Team. The 1968 Girls Basketball team was undefeated and some of them, as well as others on the team, went to Taylor County High School and played on the teams from 1968 through 1972, that achieved an outstanding record of 132 wins without a loss, and won five straight State Championships.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Aaron Helms and Lillian Creel Helms; wife, Marion “Wootie” Helms; brother, Creel Helms.

Survivors include one son, Lee Helms of Reynolds; one grandson, Sam Helms of Knoxville, Tn; one nephew Eric Newsom of Montana; one niece, Caroline Newsom of Leesburg, FL; several great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: First Baptist Church Building Fund.
