ROUGEMONT- Mrs. Mary Johnson Stephenson, 86, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2021.
Mrs. Stephenson was born on April 10, 1934 to Robert and Virgie Holder Johnson in Robeson County, NC. She was a member of Durham Memorial Baptist Church. Mary loved people, but especially loved being with her family. She was well known for her chocolate pies and enjoyed gardening. Mary will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, and aunt.
Mrs. Stephenson was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Virgie Holder Johnson; first husband, Herman Partin; second husband, Maurice Stephenson; son, Ronald Craig Partin; brothers, David Johnson, R.B. Johnson, Kenneth Johnson, and Larry Johnson; and sisters, Louise Tyler, Carol Heider, Brenda Johnson, Sharon Johnson, Gloria Johnson, and Betty Hall.
Mrs. Stephenson is survived by her son, Phillip "Phil" Eugene Partin; brothers, Billy Johnson (Rhonda) of Creedmoor, NC, Tommy Johnson (Betty) of Henderson, NC, Earl Johnson (Pat) of Durham, NC, and Curt Johnson (Janie) of Butner, NC; sisters, Nettie Cox of Rougemont, NC, Linda West (Dean) of Rougemont, NC, and Pam Johnson of Roxboro, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mrs. Stephenson's caregivers and Duke HomeCare and Hospice.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 1, 2021 at Durham Memorial Baptist Church. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. Ed Denton and Dr. Gerald Goodwin. Burial to follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Dean West, Mike Hall, Mike Cox, Mark King, Buck Johnson, and Bob Heider.
