Nancy Brock, noted educator in Sanford
SANFORD - Funeral services for noted educator and longtime Sanford resident Mrs. Nancy H. Brock will be at 11 a.m. today at the First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Leo King officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Memorial Park.
Mrs. Brock, 84, who lived at 919 E. 2nd St., died Monday. She was born in Greenwood, S.C., and moved to Sanford in 1935 from Charlotte, N.C. She attended Winthrop College and graduated from Stetson University. She taught at Southside School for 30 years and was selected teacher of the year for Seminole County in 1959. She retired in 1966.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Sanford; the Wesleyan Service Club; Delta Kappa Fraternity; P.E.O. Sisterhood; and the Sanford Woman's Club. She was a past president of the Sanford Pilot Club.
Mrs. Brock is survived by daughters, Mrs. Nancy Terwilleger, Sanford, and Mrs. Betty Jo Lossing, Ocala; sons, the Rev. Alva Brock, Miami, and Pete H. Brock, Dade City; brothers, retired Lt. Gen. J.C. Hutchison, R. U. Hutchison and Henry J. Hutchison, all of Sanford; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Brisson Funeral Home, Sanford, is in charge of arrangements.
