Carol married Fernando Martinez September 18, 1968 in Littlefield. She was a supervisor at the Littlefield WIC office, where she retired in 2011. She was a selfless woman who cared for others before herself, especially her husband. Known as “Mamo” and “Wela” to her grandchildren, she loved them more than anything and would do anything for them. Carol was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and loved spreading the good news thru service.
She is survived by her husband, Fernando Martinez of Littlefield; a daughter, Lidia D’Nae Watson and husband Curt of Lubbock; a son, Fernando Martinez Jr. of Lubbock; four grandchildren, Mia Martinez, Lola Martinez. Carolina Brisa Watson and Jameson Watson; three sisters, Tina Roberts of Littlefield, Gloria Esquibel of Dimmitt, and Julia Rodriguez of Littlefield; a brother, Fred Martinez of Littlefield; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Joe Martinez and John Martinez.
Services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 26, 2021 at Grace Chapel in Littlefield with Mark Songer officiating. Interment will follow in Littlefield Memorial Park Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be A. Sierra, Andrew Martinez, Amado “Corky” Esquibel and Dylan Brown. Arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield.
