Robert "Bob" Murry, of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, passed away at North Oaks Medical Center on Monday, December 21, 2020, at the age of 87. He was born on April 22, 1933, in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, the son of the late James Murry and Carrie Boyd Murry. Bob was a U.S. Marine veteran during the Korean Conflict and a longtime member of the American Legion Post 47 in Ponchatoula. He worked and retired from Western Electric. Bob spent most of his life in Ponchatoula where he believed family always came first. He passed up many opportunities to advance at his job so that he could keep his family local and spend as much time with them as possible. Bob worked with the Civil Defense Unit in Ponchatoula providing services for the community during hurricanes and other emergencies. He was Strawberry Festival Chairman in 1977, and a Dixie Youth League baseball coach for many years. Bob had a heart of gold and was a pillar of the Ponchatoula community. He leaves behind his loving family and many cherished memories.

Bob is survived by his sons, Robert C. Murry, II (Anne), Tim L. Murry and Marcus W. Murry (Kathy); and his only daughter Lisa Murry Gabriel Bass (James); 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Catherine "Cathy" Bennett Murry; sisters, Minnie Murry, Maggie Murry, Carrie "Tootsie" Motichek and Nellie Howard; and brothers, Raymond, Boyd "B.W.", James, and John Murry.

Bob will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife in a private service.

Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church, 325 East Pine Street, Ponchatoula, LA , 70454, on Saturday, January 23, 2021, 10:30 - 11:30 am. A memorial service will begin at 11:30 am.

Face masks are mandatory to attend and we ask that you maintain a respectful distance with the family. Thank you for your cooperation
