Born in McColl, SC on 12 February 1926, she was the daughter of the late McQueen Samuel and Annie McIntyre Westbury. She was a graduate of Winthrop University where she earned her B. S. and M. Ed. degrees in Business Education. She taught in the public schools of Hartsville, SC for 30-years after beginning her teaching career in Concord, NC. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church where she served in various capacities.
Surviving are her son, David R. (Mary Jane) Evans of Cheraw, SC; son, Dr. Kenneth C. (Dr. Alison) Evans of Hartsville, SC; and daughter, Reba Kay Evans of Charleston, SC. She was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren: Alex Evans, Justin Evans, Josh Evans, Seth Gainey, John Evans, and Katelyn Evans. She was the great-grandmother of ten. She is also survived by her brother, Hugh M. (Ruth) Westbury of Columbia, SC.
