Rev. Jimmy Nelson, age 65, of Headland, Alabama passed away Saturday, February 20, 2021.

Drive-through visitation will be Thursday, February 25, 2021, from 4 PM to 6 PM at the funeral home.

Graveside service will be held on Friday, February 26, 2021, at 11 AM at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 4850 County Road 73 Newville, Alabama.

Jimmy Earl Nelson was born in Newville, Alabama, on October 21, 1955, to the late Leroy Van Nelson, Sr. and Syble Coleman Nelson.

Jimmy Nelson accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, where he remained a member and was ordained as an Associate Minister until he died.

Jimmy Nelson accepted his call into ministry and began the Olive Branch Ministry in Newville, Alabama. Jimmy Nelson served as an Interim Pastor at Oakey Grove Baptist Church in Haleburg, Alabama until he died. Reverend Nelson loved the Lord Jesus Christ and served God through preaching, teaching, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Reverend Nelson was preceded in death by his stepfather: Henry W. McGlown and brothers: LeRoy V. Nelson, Jr., Ricky Nelson, and Larry Nelson.

He is survived by his daughter: Patricia Oliver of Dothan, Alabama; sons: Jimmy Lamar (Rebecca) Nelson, Jr., and Anthony Nelson both of Dothan, Alabama; stepdaughters: Amelia Hammock, A'Jade Hammock both of Headland, Alabama and Daniel Brady of Dothan, Alabama; stepson: Scotty Brady of Dothan, Alabama; grandchildren: Lisa Oliver, Ashantae Nelson, Emily Goolsby, J'hdarius Bryant, and Brooklyn Bryant; great-grandchildren: Anthony Oliver, Mikal Nelson, and Isabella Manchester; brother: Jerry (Charlotte) Nelson of Headland, Alabama; sisters: Cindy A. McGlown of Webb, Alabama, Gloria Nelson of Douglasville, Georgia, Angela Nelson of Cottondale, Alabama and Beverly L. McGlown of Douglasville, Georgia; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends.
