Euphrosenia (Frances) Shymoniak Kemp
Mar. 28, 1919 - Dec. 28, 2005

At Frances request, no services are scheduled and she would encourage those who would do so to contribute to a favorite charitable organization. She passed away held by daughter, Cindy, on Wednesday, December 28, 2005. Born March 28, 1919 to immigrants, D'Mytro and Anastasia (Sawczshak) Shymoniak, Fran grew up
in Ambridge, PA, the second youngest of 8 children. She was baptized and confirmed at Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church. Fran graduated from Ambridge High School and worked as a secretary and a waitress until moving to California and settling in Bakersfield. For 20 years, Fran worked as a deputy clerk for the County of Kern in Municipal Court where she made many friends. She retired in 1984 content with her life's work. Her fondest hobby
was square dancing and for many years she danced most evenings of the week with groups like Skirts and Flirts. She also participated with the Mavericks Club and at one time served as membership secretary. Fran was an avid and experienced traveler visiting Western and Eastern Europe, the British Isles, Australia, Asia, Africa, and South America. Fran spent her last years at
Glenwood Gardens, first in assisted-living and later in the skilled nursing facility. During the years she struggled with the affects of several strokes, she received massage therapy from Robert Hurst. Their special friendship grew and Fran held Bob in genuinely high esteem and considered him as a son. Thursdays were Bob days. Heartfelt thanks to you, Bob, for you are a being of
great loving-kindness and capable of such tenderness. Fran is survived by her dearest sister Katherine (Kay) Cook; her daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy Zassick (Frank deceased); Christy and David Beiber, and Cindy and Dwight Bowman. She is also survived by her granddaughters, Mary Louise, Veronica, Carrie and Karyn and grandsons Joseph, William and Kyle. Other survivors
include her great-grandchildren and her many nieces and nephews all of whom
were much loved. Fran is preceded in death by her husband, Yancey E. Kemp and
her first husband and Nancy's father, Andy Hrusko. Also passing before her are
her sisters, Mary, Anne, Julia, and brothers, Michael, Stevie, and John. May God bless everyone at Glenwood Gardens especially those who provided care to Fran in the skilled nursing facility.
