Virginia "Ginny" D. (Moler) Flaherty, 87, passed peacefully in Charles Town, WV on January 18, 2021. Ginny was born in Harpers Ferry, WV on March 4, 1934. Ginny was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, H. Richard "Dick" Flaherty, whom she married on May 12, 1962.

Ginny was a graduate of Harpers Ferry High School Class of 1952, Shepherd College Class of 1956, and later earned a masters degree from the University of Virginia. Ginny was a life-long teacher as a reading specialist and of English as a Second Language in Germany, Wyoming, Virginia, Maryland, and West Virginia. Ginny and Dick retired to Tappahannock, VA, where they became active members of the community.

Ginny loved helping others, traveling, playing slot machines and bingo, and spending time in her dahlia flower garden. Her flowers won many awards at the Jefferson County, WV fair. Ginny loved being around people and made lifetime friends wherever her journeys took her.

Ginny is survived by godchild, Antonia Capriotti of Charles Town, WV, cousin Iva Lou Whittington and family of Harpers Ferry, WV, cousin Nancy Dixon and family of Little River, SC, cousin Dianne Sears and family of Frederick, MD, friend Terri White of Charles Town, WV, and friend Gene Capriotti of Harpers Ferry, WV. Ginny is also survived by many friends who became like family to her.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Engle United Methodist Church in Harpers Ferry, WV, the Tappahannock Memorial United Methodist Church in Tappahannock, VA, and Hospice of the Panhandle, WV. Services for Ginny will be announced at a later date.
