Mrs. Florence P. McCall, age 83, well known retired nurse in the Columbus area, died at 9:15 this morning in Memorial City Hospital, Houston, Tex., where she had been a patient since Saturday. She had made her home in Houston since 1972.

Mrs. McCall was born Oct. 4, 1893, at Reeds Springs, Mo., the daughter of James and Therza Butler. She was married to Ben McCall Dec. 19, 1919. He preceded her in death March 11, 1940. She attended nurses training at St. John's Hospital, Joplin, and later operated the McCall Nursing Home here for a number of years. During the early 1940's many of the babies born in this area were delivered at her nursing home. For several years she did private nursing in California.

Mrs. McCall was a member of the Memorial Christian Church of Houston, the American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries of Columbus and Pursel Chapter. Order of the Eastern Star, of Columbus.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Richard E. Cooper, of Columbus; one son, Bruce McCall, of Houston, Tex.; one sister, Mrs. Lee Kelley of Tracy, Calif.; two grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 Thursday morning in the Jorden Funeral Home. Dr. Alfred L. Spotts will officiate. Interment will be in the Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday night from 7:00 to 8:00 o'clock. The casket will be closed at the time of the service and will remain closed.
